yesterday
while driving to my next shift
i was listening to
the tinfoil hat podcast
one of the guests was talking about
how scientists and theorists
believed we were
living in a simulation
something like the matrix
my knee-jerk reaction was
one of disbelief
but just then i looked
to my right
and saw a white rabbit
running
along side me
on the side of the road
through the ditch
and into the bushes
and i heard
just once
the faint sound
of the emergency broadcast system
so strange
since i was listening
to a recorded podcast
it gave me pause
was someone or something
trying to send me a signal
to wake me up
maybe all this is
just an elaborate illusion
or maybe life
is only as real
as we make it
