what if the sun was black

disarmed by blue eyes
dancing across ravine skies
a grey moon
remembers
a white sun

midnight flesh
is eaten by
dull humanity
as i sit
with engineers
of lonely decadence
playing out
dented trash can dreams
and sing to flowers
that refuse to bloom

ruled by moments of
yesterday’s voodoo
and running the race in reverse
we are stopped
just short of victory

drunk on
comfortable excess
the strongest cage
is the one
you can’t see
