(m)
i remember you like a stranger
polar stars for eyes
and
wit as sharp as a lion’s kiss
passion contained in
honest manifestation
soft one minute
and hard the next
as i write this
dry lightning
flashes across the sky
a sign
of things come
untouchable
(as though one touch could ever be enough)
no one can claim you
though many will try
and
sometimes beauty
is too ambient to define
blades of reluctant grass
bend beneath your feet
as you feed life
in the wake of death
and
i watch you map the stars
with simple gestures
something special
if you were the moon
i’d be the tide
split my heart and abide
don’t look back
because
goddesses hide
in the strangest of places
