drop in the bucket"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>dammit it&#8217;s that time already<\/p>\n<p>chatter, brain scatter<br \/>\nconversations with the mad hatter<br \/>\nsitting in this chair for weeks<br \/>\nwaiting to welcome a heartless dawn<br \/>\n7am debut, a 12 hour coup, then<br \/>\nat 7pm there&#8217;s not much left to do<br \/>\nbut drink and screw<br \/>\navoiding things through and through<br \/>\ntorn, and too bored to quit<br \/>\nwhile others are too tired to care<br \/>\nbeamed up, it&#8217;s the polar opposites<br \/>\nthat confound the senses<br \/>\nand in those days<br \/>\nhe remembered how<br \/>\nthere was no original thought<br \/>\nand so little emotion<br \/>\nlines blank and grown deeper<br \/>\nthese hands don&#8217;t seem giant anymore<br \/>\nand they shake all too often<\/p>\n<p>pause, fast forward, or maybe rewind<br \/>\ndriving straight into the sun<br \/>\nboth ways,safety pin clipped<br \/>\nwith an unmarked name tag<br \/>\nand wanting more<br \/>\ntoo much luck and<br \/>\nnot enough mystery, we are<br \/>\nbent to roam<br \/>\nthe inner-space<br \/>\nsearching for a home<br \/>\npoker-face<br \/>\nas the alley cats<br \/>\nkeep scratching at the post<\/p>\n<p>next up, a dream<br \/>\nfollowing a pretty redhead<br \/>\nwe stumbled upon a<br \/>\npatch of magic mushrooms<br \/>\nhidden among the cow shit<br \/>\nbaby biddies<br \/>\nit was<br \/>\nthe key to the freak show<br \/>\nshe said<br \/>\na much needed release<br \/>\nsomething different<br \/>\nin the face of all this obscurity<br \/>\nno question we&#8217;ve all become androids<br \/>\ndrunk, addicted, and unaware<br \/>\na generation of exceptional idiots<br \/>\ncowering in the shadow of mediocrity<\/p>\n<p>and among them was this guy<br \/>\naverage, with too many rough edges<br \/>\na bad lover<br \/>\na bad writer<br \/>\na prisoner of desire<br \/>\nwith too many women<br \/>\nand half finished sentences<br \/>\ndishonest and explicit<br \/>\nin one ravenous heartbeat<br \/>\nyou see, it&#8217;s always these dogged men<br \/>\nand desperate women<br \/>\nwho make jokes and cling<br \/>\nwith slippery fingers<br \/>\nto the falsehoods of middle age<\/p>\n<p>too quick or too late?<br \/>\nfrustration and the great debate<br \/>\nthey say cancer is imminent<br \/>\nwaiting to desecrate<br \/>\nshifted like a bad clutch<br \/>\ni just can&#8217;t get this right<br \/>\nto preach, to pray<br \/>\nthere&#8217;s no fail-safe today<\/p>\n<p>so now it&#8217;s<br \/>\ntime for the news<br \/>\ntime for the blues<br
