distractions
\nin lieu of
\npositive attractions
\nfighting for so little
\nand constantly losing ground<\/p>\n

i’m tired of all this pointless noise<\/p>\n

the perfect balance never comes
\nthe spirit wanes
\nand attention is fleeting
\nas we remember moments of temporary bliss
\nand wander aimlessly
\nin this perpetual abyss<\/p>\n

i don’t mean to sound sad
\nit’s just that
\nlife’s edge
\nhas begun to dull
\nand the trap has taken hold<\/p>\n

it’s not all bad though
\nthere are always
\ncats and chickens
\nconvenience store beers
\nunread books
\ncool breezes
\nand quiet waters
\nthe sun still shines
\nand body still rises
\neven as the mind continues to sleep<\/p>\n

purpose is constantly misdirected
\nbut peace
\ncan be found
\nin the simplest of actions
\nsipping a glass of cheap wine
\nor the advance
\nof an unanticipated kiss<\/p>\n

the mind fucks the heart
\nsex and death are one in the same
\nbut love
\ndistant as it may be
\nnurtures this unfocused life
\nand unlimited perception is everything<\/p>\n

don’t let THEM tell YOU how to BE
\ni write
\nbecause i cannot speak
\nbut i still hear ancient songs
\nthat echo through ghost limbs<\/p>\n

some of us are still wild
\nsome of us are still untamed<\/p>\n

and i don’t believe
\nthis flawed matrix
\nwas ever meant to succeed
\nit’s a trap<\/p>\n

but i’m an anarchist
\nforever the optimist
\nand i will always raise a middle finger
\nto all these flawed and failing systems
\nin hopes that i
\nwill break free
\nand inspire the unwashed masses
\nto revolt
\nand reinvent themselves
\nin the true image of GOD
\nbecause in the end
\ndaydreams are all we have<\/p>\n
