and here we are
\n11:27 pm
\nnew years eve 2023
\nembracing the scorched routines
\nof another gutless year
\ndesperately waiting
\nto be flushed down the toilet
\nof anxious expectation<\/p>\n

unsettled and slightly littered
\nwith moonlit novelty
\nand decorated lazy loneliness
\nwe sit quietly
\ntortured by the laughter and chaos
\nof all our forgotten gods
\nas tragedy plays it’s social chords<\/p>\n

it’s not all bad though
\nhumanity hasn’t quite fully succumbed
\nto the extreme and inevitable decay
\nof social media rot
\nmultiple personalities
\nand convenient living
\nsomehow we persist
\nstruggling along a path of
\ndulled passion
\nand shaded imagination
\nas we continue to labor
\nunder all these illusions
\nof perpetual normalcy
\nand fractal, fictional freedoms<\/p>\n

and i’m sitting here
\nof course with the eternal kitten
\nrealistic,
\nalmost content,
\nslightly rundown
\nwith a bottle of moderately priced zinfandel
\nobviously buzzed
\ni’m trying to capture culture
\nand transform ambitious intent
\ninto an elastic reality
\ni’m trying to construct
\nthe final line
\nof the last great american illusion<\/p>\n

reaching for an impossible end
\none threatening grasp
\nat subtle sanity
\nextended towards
\na divine and random vision
\nas we wait, impatiently
\nfor a storied chance
\nat blue damnation or red resolution<\/p>\n
