captured
\nlast night thinking about writing
\nthat’s the word that came to mind
\ncaptured
\nand nearly captivated<\/p>\n

almost an obsession
\nbut not quite
\nentralled
\nthe days run fast
\nand the nights are thick
\nthick with blurry eyes and false dreams
\nthere’s rarely any satisfaction
\nbut there’s always distraction
\nbinding will
\nwith hollow entertainment
\nand dreams of dubious conquest
\nyellow ghosts hide in quiet corners<\/p>\n

finally we succumb
\nto the sanity of restless sleep
\nand this anticipated sleep
\ncomes easily enough
\nbut often refuses to stay
\nas we are roused
\nfor a labored piss
\nand one more erected cigarette<\/p>\n

water and wine
\ndreams of a secular jail
\nsmoke breaks
\nand the anxiety of another broken reality
\none more trial, one more day<\/p>\n

if your lucky
\ntime moves slower
\nand the coffee isn’t burned
\none more dying bet
\nhumanity vs artificial intelligence
\nblue light gives way
\nto a natural reprieve
\nbreathe, then comes the sun
\nhazy and yellow
\nwelcoming and constant<\/p>\n

maybe the myth will manifest
\na certain figure
\nand this concrete game
\nwill reveal
\nhonest incantations
\nmaybe green visions
\nwill form purple mysteries<\/p>\n

the grand goddess waits
\nand time is fleeting
\nfleeting and persistent
\nbut sometimes on mornings like this
\nit’s all just an illusion
\nlove without light
\nillusions keep us grounded
\ngrounded and captured<\/p>\n

where have all the birds gone?
\ni miss their songs
\nsongs of anarchy
\nand songs of a blissful apocalypse
\ni have everything and i have nothing
\ncircles and squares
\ntriangles and distant points of light
\nseeking lost souls
\nas skinny breaths
\nremember forgotten flesh<\/p>\n

gods of creation and gods of destruction
\nmanifest robots and revolutionaries
\nand sitting here
\ndrunk
\ni have words
\nwords without meaning
\nstories unfinished
\nliving in phases
\nof art and autonomy
\nliving within a single breath
\na breath that whispers truth
\nand one solitary word
\ncaptured…<\/p>\n
