\n(plenty of fish) not so much
\nsitting here, hair down
\nhanging on the edge
\nof some distant and shaded dream
\ni’m casting a hollow pole
\nslightly off center
\nwaiting for luck or fate to find me
\nand remembering the fish that got away
\nthe bugs are thick
\nand my blood is thin
\nsoothed by timeless tunes
\nit’s a playful competition
\nof meditation and irritation
\nbut i got tired of that repetitive game
\nso i drove to the store
\nslightly more intoxicated than i should have been
\nmoving slow and measured down these familiar roads
\nthe warm recirculated air felt good
\non my sweaty brow
\nthe trees were rendered in a blissful blur
\nand the moon was obscured
\nby an unnatural haze
\nand when i arrived at my inevitable destination
\nthe market was almost completely devoid
\nof that delicate human element
\nthe moment was nearly perfect
\nfor an extroverted introvert like me
\nthere’s something about last minute excursions
\ni like shopping at night
\nbut i’m not sure you can call what i was doing shopping
\ni was only there for this evening’s beer
\nand tomorrow night’s wine
\ni was hungry
\nbut the thought of preparing food
\nseemed so obsolete
\nand peaceful as that empty supermarket was
\ni could feel the biting trance
\nof drunken poetry taking hold
\ni couldn’t wait to get home
\nand waste slow time
\non this downgraded machine
\ncoming up with words and phrases
\nthat none of you would understand
\nupon my wicked arrival
\ni decided to consume the weakest beer
\nand listen to the witcher 3 wild hunt concert
\nand thankfully my black and white kitten
\nhad chosen an un-obtrusive spot on my desk
\nto sit, and observe
\nand now, here i sit
\ndrunk and naked once again
\nfifty-one lines into this dissonant and melodic ramble
\nunable to choose a suitable direction
\nfor this black and questionable narrative
\ni feel like man of mystery
\ntrapped and bearing useless gifts
\nlingering on one last chemical distraction
\ncasually battling the imminent grasp of restless sleep
\nand dangerously reaching towards
\nan insane manifestation of borrowed faith
\n
