the security is light
\nin this open air asylum
\nand i’m running split shifts
\nof consciousness
\nwith a guy
\nslightly
\nmore sane
\nthan me<\/p>\n

i’m tired of watching monkeys
\ndance into the sea
\nworking this limited world
\nand wondering why so many of us
\nlet addiction hang
\nso lightly
\ni wonder why so many folks
\nlook to be offended
\nand why so many are sad
\nthe other guy wonders
\nwhy are they so weak
\nhe understands
\nthe definition of insanity
\nand wonders why so many
\nare so easily drawn to it
\ni understand comfort
\nmorning coffee and the songs of birds
\nor evening beer and sacramental music
\nit’s an odd form of balance<\/p>\n

trying to kill these dull habits
\nwith creative unrest
\ni\u2019m remembering strange dreams
\nas buddha and the black lungs
\ncombine to form
\na collective dragon soul
\nand this smooth change
\nhas subtly rearranged, me
\nwaiting on washed out rainbows
\nand drifting in this broken simulation
\nare we just riding out the storm?
\nor are we embracing
\nblue screens of death?<\/p>\n

the cats are serious and lazy
\nthe poetry is meaningless
\nand still these cravings persist
\nrecess the mind
\ncause this too will end<\/p>\n
