i had a dream last night
\nand in it i ran
\nup and down
\nback and forth
\nbetween empty walls
\nand busy streets
\ndressed in slick black tones
\ni was running hard
\nlike a flooded river
\nit was a race of sorts
\na race against black and white cats
\nor maybe it was against
\nhollow humans
\nhumans with cement hearts
\nand soft feet<\/p>\n

it felt good to run
\nto be in the lead for once
\nwhat was i running for
\ni’m not sure
\nvictory i suppose
\nwhatever that means
\nin the end i won
\nbut there was no one there
\nto congratulate me
\nexcept for an old man
\nwith a circular smile
\nand sadly the prize for winning
\nis never as good as they promise<\/p>\n
