fabricated shadows,
\ncomfort in
\nold and familiar addictions
\ni pencil secrets across a reclusive mind
\nas throats are sharpened
\nand nooses loosened<\/p>\n

the sky is lit
\nwith a half-hearted glow
\nand i’m waiting
\nfor the best moment of nothing<\/p>\n

with chilled teeth
\nand discomfort
\nwe are tied
\nupon the end
\nof another
\nquiet and blurry night<\/p>\n

i accept these transitions
\nfrom mornings of blue cut moons
\nto evenings of light
\nfiltered in an anti-hero twilight
\nas i write corrupted lines
\nto smite
\nthis self imposed
\nlonely blight<\/p>\n

holding a half empty beer
\nand pissing sideways
\ninto an infinite
\nand dirty toilet bowl
\ni relieve this dubious signal
\nof empty time<\/p>\n

sitting cross legged,
\nbursting with
\nlazy creativity
\nand heartburn
\ni close my eyes and negate
\nthis passive stimulation<\/p>\n

i like those those sad songs
\nthey remind me of
\nswitchblade nights
\nwalking down dirty paths
\ntoward middle aged adventure
\nand white mornings
\nwhen i quietly drove away<\/p>\n

i wonder how long this fire will burn
\ni wonder how long the horizon
\nwill promise something new
\nbecause from where i’m sitting now
\nthere are no promises here<\/p>\n
