it’s hot tonight
\nas surreal little fans
\ncontinue to churn
\ntheir obsolete momentum
\nmy old gold cat
\nis licking the sweat
\noff my salty skin
\nas i sit here
\nat my disorganized desk
\nwondering what will come next<\/p>\n

visions of sacred sins
\nsettle in
\na soft and crazy unison
\nof green, yellow and black
\ni thank the gods
\nfor this humid reprieve
\nand with a touch of
\nharsh white tequila
\na tiny flame
\nbalances these unsteady hands<\/p>\n

earlier i was
\none with the rain
\nand the steady rhythm of crickets
\nnow i am one
\nwith a drunken finger song<\/p>\n

i usually write in the morning
\nbut sometimes
\nthe night
\nis just right
\nfor hollow hallucinations
\nas lonely travelers
\nseek lavender dreams
\nand hollow lungs inhale
\nsweet and sour ambition<\/p>\n

and as always
\nthis black and white kitten watches me
\nwith passive and indifferent judgment
\nas i entwine time
\nand attempt to compose
\nanother divine and decomposed line<\/p>\n

words of reason
\nreduce me to naked treason
\nas the piano stretches towards a crescendo
\nof delicate and complicated excess
\nbeethoven is my savior
\nthe chorus remembers patterns
\nof rhythmic ecstasy
\nand immaculate tones
\ncarry me toward an uneasy sleep<\/p>\n
