\nscrewed in and bottomed out
\ni can’t compose a cadence tonight
\nbut that’s alright
\nsave it for
\nwhen the dragon’s teeth are upon you
\nsave it for
\nwhen the cigarette burns low
\nand cloud forms drift to the north
\nsave it for
\nwhen someone really cares<\/p>\n

i don’t have the words
\nto describe tomorrow
\nand adjectives escape me today<\/p>\n

i’m swimming in rivers of
\ncontaminated communication
\nas headlines kill
\nheart-lines,
\nas tv death
\nguides fallen fools
\ntowards predictable lines of propaganda
\nand yesterday’s souls
\nmanifest toxic prepositions<\/p>\n

in passed tense
\nwe stir a cauldron of
\ncalculated conjunctions
\nto commemorate these
\ncruel intentions
\nwrapped like an angry almanac
\nsubmerged in literary storms
\nof strange frustration<\/p>\n

bloom this beast of future imperfection
\nscraping ignorance in the hot glow of
\nstrangers who recite jokes
\nfrom dull revisions<\/p>\n

at this moment
\nwe’ve got a good thing going
\ndon’t waste it on hopeless fury
\ncradled by uncertain language<\/p>\n

embrace this tabloid release
\nand define these salvaged stars
\nplaced on a page of
\nperpetual penetration
\nwith careful deliberation<\/p>\n

remember
\nimmortality rests
\nin the rusty hands
\nof perilous
\nrestitution<\/p>\n
