\nfor anxious fingers to touch
\nwaiting for a smile
\nand for fragile flowers to bloom<\/p>\n

waiting for something to happen
\nwaiting like fire
\nfor a summer rain
\nthe ritual face fades
\nand the clock keeps ticking
\n(are we)
\nwaiting for better days
\nas the sidewalks cracks and breaks
\ntelling us stories of nervous travelers<\/p>\n

waiting for a sign (of the times)
\nwaiting for destinations never reached
\nas the sun continues to shine
\nreaching for some treacherous new beginning<\/p>\n

waiting for hope
\nwaiting for peace
\nwaiting as the dogs of war
\nprowl and prey
\nupon the average man<\/p>\n

waiting for a raise
\nwaiting for a tip
\nwaiting like an insect
\nas this square machine
\ncontinues to grind your soul<\/p>\n

waiting for the truth
\nwaiting for a lie
\nwaiting for tired days to end
\nand lively evenings to begin<\/p>\n

waiting for sleep
\nwaiting for dreams
\nas tattered photos fade
\nand hidden spiders spin their complex webs<\/p>\n

waiting for tradition
\nwaiting for sacred vision
\nwaiting for a laughing deity
\nto bless you one more time<\/p>\n

waiting like a bird on a wire
\nwaiting for a rough world to soften
\nas delicate wings again seek the sea<\/p>\n

waiting to make it
\nwaiting for fiction to become reality<\/p>\n

and finally,
\nwaiting for these loud poems
\nto quietly finish themselves
\nwords wane and wager against creation
\nit’s a gamble few of us take<\/p>\n
