the glass clicks twice against an empty wine bottle
\nfull red, head, full of nascent dreams
\ni grabbed the wrong glass(the empty one)
\nand\u00a0 it’s too cold on this warm december night
\ni’m almost too tired to write
\nyet here here i am
\nnot quite midnight
\nstruggling by candlelight<\/p>\n

i want to retire
\nbut i’m too young to die
\nas cracks suddenly appear
\nin this cabalistic suit of armor<\/p>\n

presented as a sinful, soulful,
\nslayer of spirit
\ni’ve composed more nonsense in the last ten minutes
\nwithin this common brain
\nthan most of you have in an entire lifetime<\/p>\n

banged and bruised
\nwaiting for obscurity to pass
\nwaiting for\u00a0 glory
\noh how we jump
\nthrough hoops of elastic simplicity
\nas the last sip a fine wine
\nis shared with the scratching madnesses
\nof two young cats<\/p>\n

summer books are read
\nlike delicious payloads
\nthat fulfill salvaged conditions
\nas golden gods live vicarious lives
\nthrough popular memes
\ngathering obvious metadata
\nthrough secular schemes<\/p>\n

still ugly
\ni write what i feel
\nand what i feel is real
\ntainted by the indiscretions
\nof a whimsical life
\nspread thin, on the wind
\nof square categories<\/p>\n

what can i say
\nthe grasses are grey
\nas gentle hearts betray
\nsouls composed of honest disarray
\ni love alliteration
\nyet it always ends the same
\nwith a black and white kitten
\neternal, and curled in my lap
\nsoft kisses that could end the best of days
\npurring, and waiting for me to tell a new story<\/p>\n
