one too many beers
\nslouched and waiting for creativity
\nwith sharpened knives
\nas resistance soothes the savage soul
\nand i feel as though i can’t write
\ntonight
\nwith
\nhonesty
\nrested in the sweet sleep
\nof formaldehyde dreams<\/p>\n

lazy hands refuse to stir
\nand i’m sitting here
\nwith a twitching eye
\nwatching pretty women
\nfrom a distance
\nbecause
\npoetry is lyrical mysticism
\nsummoned from
\nan unseen and internal void
\nand cast upon the world
\nwith interpretive intent<\/p>\n

i try to forget
\nlove
\nsplattered on
\ndirty pavement
\nbroken and
\nleft for dead
\nas life plays out
\nlike a predictable movie script
\nwith cutaway scenes
\nof misdirection
\nshaped with
\ndistant spells
\nthat spill
\nover the edge
\nof some fan made dream
\nand sometimes i think
\nit’s better to drink
\nand run naked in the forest
\nthan to put your heart on the alter
\nof submissive sacrifice<\/p>\n

satan as a comic prince
\nseated in
\na samurai saloon
\nis
\ntaunting me
\nwith
\nnormality
\nin the face of
\ntemporal obscurity
\nohh if only you could see
\nthis dominant insecurity<\/p>\n

and now, we wait for the ovation
\nas cosmic clowns
\nclaiming fame,
\npoverty, and
\npockets of delayed diversity
\nmarch in tune
\nwith repetitive madnesses<\/p>\n

all of this is
\nnothing more than
\nrolled cigarettes and
\ndaily routines
\nmanifested in
\npredetermined themes
\nof unholy schemes
\ntearing at the seams
\nand waiting for a petulant end
\nas saintly circles
\nare salted and sanctioned
\nfor sultry salesmen<\/p>\n

too drunk to write
\ni retired to bed
\nonly to be summoned
\nby lingering words
\nlost on blank pages
\nnever let those ideas slide<\/p>\n

please forget this rapid carnival
\nand forgive this rapacious doubt
\ni am
\nno longer bitter
\nbut resigned
\nto a black obscurity<\/p>\n
