play now and pay later
\nan anthem of the american way
\nevery action taken, every word spoken
\nno matter how small
\nhas been unstructured and unfinished
\nand these words still wait
\nto be committed<\/p>\n

is it bad posture
\nor faulty features
\nare these fingers clumsy
\nor is the mind just dull today
\nmaybe it\u2019s morning
\ni\u2019m almost done
\nand though it\u2019s never fun
\nwe are
\nalways marching
\nhalf undone
\ntoward the unending pursuit
\nof tired dreams
\nand half truths
\nscreams and schemes
\nfrom persuasive youths
\nlurking in a medieval balcony
\nand hanging like low fruit<\/p>\n

1,2,3 with no
\nrhyme or reason
\nthey speak to me
\nin this season
\nalmost and always
\nof the impending treason<\/p>\n

when comes eternity?<\/p>\n

i see now that it\u2019s all a fraud
\nwhen we were younger
\nand not quite so flawed
\nalternate universes seemed more
\nreal and unnecessary<\/p>\n

i am high but never alone
\nso gimme a page that\u2019s blank
\ndusty and luminous, set to roam
\nlet\u2019s be frank
\ni\u2019ve always smoked and drank
\nand sometimes i feel like
\nthis is all an un-ending prank<\/p>\n

of all the bad poems in the world
\ni think i like mine the best
\nbirthed and created from
\nmind
\nand spare time
\nillegitimate children
\nruptured and left to be viewed at a later date<\/p>\n

so tell me when
\nis that magic moment again?<\/p>\n

the seagulls are closing in
\nsearching for that last big
\nscore
\nbefore
\nthe winter blues
\ncloses the door<\/p>\n
