autumn still
\nthe air is stiff tonight
\nwith lack of forward momentum
\ni rest
\nin a warm stupor
\nas the madman
\nreaches for
\narchaic and acidic poetry
\nas fluid flames
\nilluminate another
\nforgotten soldier<\/p>\n

malfunction
\nmy black and white kitten is late
\nas i sit at this friendly machine
\ntrying to summon
\nthe spirit of
\nimmortality<\/p>\n

i’m familiar with this
\nsucculent loneliness
\nbut sometimes i wonder
\nif these naked walls
\nare a sanctuary
\nor a tomb<\/p>\n

the first leaf falls
\nas the song signals
\na sentient
\ndeath
\nand somewhere
\nout there
\nold men sacrifice soul
\nfor the empty promise of
\nsanguiferous sainthood<\/p>\n

sometimes it can’t be helped
\nthis persistence of resistance
\na quiet stare from the edge
\nof another dull room
\none beer, two beers, twelve
\nwhat difference does it make?
\nwaiting for mystery
\nwaiting for passion
\nwaiting for
\nthe maiden
\nand
\ndeath’s slow kiss<\/p>\n

filled with
\nhollow beats and cold blood
\nif only we were
\nspectators
\nwatching this listless tragedy
\ninstead of living-dead
\nworker bees
\nstretching towards some
\nelusive and infinite purpose<\/p>\n

reluctant healer<\/p>\n

eyes closed,
\nlabored breaths
\nand the resonant hum
\nof a silver machine
\nthat works overtime
\nwhat if all these
\nscreen lit nights
\nwere just allusions of
\nan alternate tomorrow?<\/p>\n

i cannot forgive
\ncomplacency
\nso i’ll sit here
\nuntil
\nthe blue moon rises in the east<\/p>\n
