so tired
\nlistening for the first breath
\nof the north star
\nunder the shaky embrace of
\na twilight hangover
\ni hover over
\nanother reptile morning
\nas the sky traces
\nblue angels
\nupon it’s dirty surface
\nand a gentle fog masks the sun<\/p>\n

it’s the end of september
\nand i’m sitting on my front porch
\nalmost comfortable
\nin my underwear
\nwaiting for birds
\nthat have already flown south
\nand i know
\nthese square roads
\nare written with
\nkarma’s decree
\nspelling tragedy<\/p>\n

stubborn exit
\nas assumptions kill
\nhalf formed dreams
\nwe seek to forget failures
\nand fatal loves
\nin favor of fabricated ghosts<\/p>\n

waiting on love
\nwaiting on life
\nwaiting on
\ninspiration
\nnothing is going to work
\ntoday
\nand i can feel them
\nclosing in
\nso, with spent passion
\ni write half words
\nalmost memorized
\nspilled on stained pages
\nin the darkness<\/p>\n

the revolution is
\ndead
\nas ritual television
\nrules the rabble
\ncats sleep with dogs
\nand the whore is made queen
\nso, send the lions to the lambs
\nprepare for a party
\nof unforeseen measure
\nand give me one last cup of
\nblack coffee
\nto save the day<\/p>\n

faces fade
\ninto something new
\nan uncertain brew
\nand this living glue
\nis separating at the seams
\nas nights once filled with
\nflashes of sideways smiles
\nare all gone now
\neverything dies in the center
\nonly to be reborn on
\nsome stranger’s horizon<\/p>\n

wrapped in nature’s random symphony
\nthis madness is softer now
\nno action
\nno excitement
\nno new poems
\njust
\nmystic music,
\nserpentine wine, and
\nrandom words
\nvulgar in their
\nspiraling descent<\/p>\n
