frantic light, robbed of second sight
\nimpossible love bites
\nas fish tails and phantom feathers
\nflutter under the cloak
\nof another solicitous night<\/p>\n

inflame, exclaim, defame
\nevery day is the same
\nas we play the game
\nof never ending domination<\/p>\n

charmed and hesitant
\nwatering green tongues
\nwith red letters
\nwe wait on stock prophecies
\nlike misinformed misanthropes<\/p>\n

take away the voice(s)
\nno more soft words
\njust a dark horse
\nand unsteady hands
\nholding a perpetual pen
\ni can’t write a poem
\nto save my life<\/p>\n

the telephone
\nthe television
\nand the typewriter
\ninstruments of
\ndeath and resurrection
\nwielded in a
\nconflicted form of security<\/p>\n

mean streets strike a valiant pose
\nalmost like undefined prose
\nwith a mad chorus
\nof no tomorrows
\nas players and paper hustlers
\ndrink wildflowers
\nin the gloomy doom
\nand lone sharks wait
\nfor turntable dreams
\nswinging to jungle beats
\non dissident concrete
\nwith absent feet
\nscratched to the fever
\nof nature’s heartbeat<\/p>\n

evening creatures dream of
\ndeadly daylight roses
\nand osiris laughs
\nas a jaded dragon dances to the tune
\nof tired teeth
\nscraping against the hardened strings
\nof a lost violin<\/p>\n

a solitary raven
\nwith copper eyes
\nlike desert bonfires
\nlures us with lurid tales
\nof patience and lost love
\nas passion fuels fated farewells
\nand we remember past mistakes
\nlike a first kiss<\/p>\n

black coffee, black markets
\nblack cats and black hearts
\nback alley
\nbittersweet fuel
\ntasted and wasted
\non you<\/p>\n

halted on the road of uncertainty
\nsummer’s last cue is absent
\nas the sun-day noon
\npulsates a deafening static
\nmeant to magnetize
\nand knock dead
\nsanitary senses<\/p>\n

no rhythm, no destination
\nno epic here
\nmatter loses meaning
\nbackward, forward
\nno momentum at all
\nit’s better to sit alone
\nwith an empty rapture
\nas maligned eyes capture
\nthe spirit of failed destiny<\/p>\n

too old to live
\nand too young to die
\nnothing but a
\ndomestic cliche
\nplaced on standby<\/p>\n
