i ain’t got no typewriter
\ni got a demon in a box
\nthat doesn’t like to be disturbed
\nat this lonely hour
\nand all i hear
\nis the sound of tired fans
\npushing tired air
\nthrough a tired home
\nfilled with tired bones<\/p>\n

i’m on my fourth or fifth beer
\nand i’m remembering
\nmemories that seek to kill me slowly
\nwe aren’t waiting for death
\nwe’re
\nwaiting for life
\nwith tall smokes
\non a short fuse
\nand the next payday is
\njust a mile away<\/p>\n

this motor-head
\nloves to run on fumes
\nand distant sonic booms
\nbut my bullshit rises
\nto meet the tides
\nas heroes disappear
\nin a classical collage
\nof calculated conflict<\/p>\n

how do we spend
\nthese in between moments?
\ni think we use vulgar currencies
\nwith no expectations for tomorrow
\nnotes, links, and memes
\nwhat do they mean?
\ni’m trapped in these solid dreams
\nof mechanical ecstasy<\/p>\n

i favor destruction to an edited version of the truth<\/p>\n

sex would be preferable
\nto these
\nunrepentant and
\nbrief periods of
\nintoxicated time
\nbut alas
\ni have no more gifts to give
\nand all i can do
\nis tap that one last
\nlong ash
\nfrom my failed cigarette
\nand hope that this
\nmiscarriage of a poem
\nwill find a seat at the table of immortality<\/p>\n
