\nstranded and waiting for something to happen
\nsometimes i dream of dropping acid
\njumping into a slick black cadillac
\nand driving forever
\nsearching for the spirit god
\nof the lonely american highway<\/p>\n

because i have
\nshort breaths
\nand
\nlong vibes
\nforget the yellow song of hell
\nspend your mornings
\nwalking with ants
\nand
\nlend a hand
\nto the ghosts of the desert<\/p>\n

forget green fish
\nthat swim within fevered skies
\nremember the moon
\nand the promises
\nshe once whispered <\/p>\n

forget war and the media’s division
\nremember the broken tree
\nand the feel of worms beneath your feet<\/p>\n

take me back to
\nsidewalk shows
\nwith golden flower girls
\nand magnificent hobos<\/p>\n

as we race railroads
\nlanding on revelations
\nsomewhere between
\ngood and bad luck signposts<\/p>\n

gathered at a stone ring
\ni drink black coffee
\nand sing
\nwatching kindred ripples
\nriding waves denied<\/p>\n

daylight hosts the fury
\nof summer kisses
\nsown in the blue grey hue
\nof an endless night
\nas we
\nread words like maps
\nand
\nspeak truths
\nlayered in lies<\/p>\n

temperance at the tower
\nand
\ntoo honest to be alive
\ni proposed a toast
\nwith summer’s ghost
\nto the forgotten sun
\nof satan’s song
\nburied at dawn
\nsilent and withdrawn <\/p>\n

absent and stained
\ni reign
\non this unknown throne
\nruler of my very own
\nanimated kingdom<\/p>\n

i’ve been waiting for something different
\nwaiting
\ntill you came along<\/p>\n

i feel those eyes
\npiercing me from a shadowy distance
\nas mosquitoes feast
\nand the high priest
\nsummons tales
\nfrom winds of the far east<\/p>\n

can you understand
\nthe finer points of
\nmad passion
\nand subtle insanity?
