escape
\nthe moon flipped
\nas fear arrived unannounced
\nand precisely on time
\nthe insects swarm
\nfor a final feast,
\nas the typeface fades
\nand the traffic lights
\nsignal certain doom
\nstanding here, empty
\ni feel like i’m over there
\nsomewhere
\nout of body
\nout of mind
\non time
\ndriving up
\nunscripted roads
\nand
\nout of time
\ndiving down
\ninto pools of summer mud<\/p>\n

i stared into the eyes of the beast
\nand laughed, he can’t claim me
\nfor i’m already possessed…obsessed
\nwe hide our demons so well
\ncloaked beneath random
\nand dangerous communications
\nwaiting for a word, a summons
\nfrom a black and white goddess
\nriding the false specter of night
\nshe could undress the sun
\nwith a simple glance
\nand where others see flaws
\ni see perfection
\nto demand or monopolize her time
\nis such a sin, and i wonder
\nwill she remember me
\nwhen i’ve faded
\nfrom this persistent existence?<\/p>\n

who’s in charge of these rural runes?
\nhelp me balance these summer spells
\nwith ancient autumn swells
\ngimme some of that small town blues
\nmix it with wine and youthful color
\ngrab the gun and go
\nthrow away yesterday
\nand recycle today
\nbecause tomorrow is stalled
\nupon an obscure meridian<\/p>\n

remorse, remembrance, reconciliation
\nshut the secret garden
\nand tame the savage alley cat
\nbecause
\nstranger strangers are circling above
\nwith rusted halos and
\nvisions of calamity in their eyes
\nwould you welcome this beautiful collapse?
\ni am rebellious in the face of
\ntime’s cruel resonance
\na slave to none..but one
\nso, heal this head
\nfull of cryptic dreams
\nthat bleed
\nupon the rainbow road
\nof grassy sorrows<\/p>\n

chance, circumstance
\nand consequence
\ncurious time
\nmoving in more than two directions
\ni was born to initiate
\nand excoriate
\nlost virtue
\nalong swollen destinies of twilight
\ni love the night
\nand will always fight
\nfor the favor of the one
\nthat fate has spit upon<\/p>\n

how long will these games within games
\nplay out in comic book fashion
\nsometimes a man just has nothing to say
\nno rest
\nonly
\nrestitution
\nunlearned or relearned
\nit\u2019s time,
\none line left
\ndon’t waste it
\ncurse the empty page,
\nconnect the dots,
\nand command majick(s)
\nthat are almost forgotten
\nsmile
\nand charm the gods of old<\/p>\n
