<\/p>\n

sitting here as i do every morning
\nreading poetry and
\nscribbling nonsense
\ninto my little black book
\ni feel
\na subtle difference
\ni feel
\nalmost refreshed
\nthe moon passed through
\nit’s enigmatic phases
\neclipsing the passage of night
\nand something changed
\n(perhaps the fog was lifted?)<\/p>\n

with one crack of golden light
\nthe sky is smeared
\nwith a gray tapestry
\nshielding us from
\nthe harsh wisdom of the sun
\nwhat a perfect morning!<\/p>\n

cigarette butts still litter
\nmy concrete steps
\nand the traffic still composes
\nits sporadic choruses<\/p>\n

the bees are furiously buzzing
\ntrying to gather what little pollen they can
\nfrom my dying rhododendron bush
\nthe vines are taking over
\nstrangling the few buds
\nthat still want to bloom<\/p>\n

i think this frustrates the bees
\nit impedes their life’s work
\ni know how they feel<\/p>\n

i’m waiting
\nwaiting for
\nthe earth
\nto break open
\nand consume me<\/p>\n

today may not be my day
\nfor poetry
\nbut it’s a day
\nfor something
\nsomething ripe and new
\nand at this moment
\nthat’s enough for me<\/p>\n
