and so it ends as it began
\nanother day silenced
\nby the fury of the absurdity
\nto sleep but not to dream
\nfor dreams breed fabricated damnation
\nand there are mornings where
\ndeath seems to tag along
\nuninvited
\nas one hand holds
\npoor choices
\nand the other holds
\nno choices<\/p>\n

just when i thought i had something
\na clever metaphor perhaps
\nor at least
\ntwo lines to light the way
\nnothing
\nagain, don\u2019t try
\ndon’t speak
\nthat four letter word
\nfoul and forsaken
\npray
\nno art, no poetry
\ntoday
\nhow can i write
\nwhen i’m empty of all illusion?<\/p>\n

sober solitude
\nwith lead memories weighted
\ni’m swimming through a cacophony
\nof faded years
\nthe waking world prods me
\ni want to rip it open
\nand feast on the secrets
\nthat lie behind the curtain<\/p>\n

watching sacrificial ships
\nslither towards an uncertain fortune
\nthe moon controls the flow of the tides
\ntides that push and pull
\nagainst the minority
\nof rapid emotions
\ndoes the great unseen goddess
\ncontrol the tides of destiny?<\/p>\n

following a black eyed nymph
\ni want to map
\nthe pain, the elation
\ni’m tired of
\nuncertain destinations<\/p>\n

and from the back of my mind
\ni hear him ask
\n“what is it that drives you?”
\n“i’m not sure i know”
\nhe laughs at my uncertainty<\/p>\n

too many questions
\nmaybe that’s what art is
\nquestions
\ndirections
\ntoward a possible solution
\nsubstitution, contribution
\nimpossible remedy<\/p>\n

brain chemicals altered
\nas my awareness reaches out
\napproaching something beyond definition
\nalerted and interrupted
\nfate is resigned
\nto a mathematical delusion
\nwriting in the abstract
\nto conceal and save my soul
\ni want these moments of bliss
\nto stretch out
\nbeyond boring days
\ni want balance
\ni want to matter<\/p>\n

synonyms and antonyms
\nlost and found
\nlaughing at the cosmic punchline
\ngive me three words
\nthree words for the wind to remember<\/p>\n
