black pajamas
\nblack coffee
\nand black cats
\nsigns of another restless morning<\/p>\n

how to capture
\nthat magik of old
\nmix one part reality
\nwith two parts pleasure
\ni think that’s the right equation<\/p>\n

and i remember
\nfolded grey matter
\nstreaked across
\nlightly animated landscapes<\/p>\n

notifications
\nempty bottles
\nrun
\nis it inevitable?
\nsome days i whisper dead street songs
\nhoping to feel immortal<\/p>\n

passive and tragic we roam
\nwith untold footsteps
\nfar from home
\ncoming to rest at a 24 hour diner
\nit’s almost deserted
\nand we are
\nbest served 2 hours before dawn<\/p>\n

spring circus
\nremembered like an autumn holiday
\nperceptions are a paradox
\nas we continually walk
\nin sacrilegious circles<\/p>\n

no cash
\novershadowed, overload
\nlament for the road
\nas hippies sing
\nfor a stone cold
\ndownload<\/p>\n

i love my long car rides to nowhere
\nforty-one miles
\nor was it
\nforty-one years
\ncollected souvenirs<\/p>\n

and out there
\nwoman drive railroad minivans
\ncontemplating the backseat burdens of life
\nas men dream of motorcycles
\nlong legs and soft lips<\/p>\n

i see all this youth around me
\nand i am
\nwild to the point of being crazy
\nyet the rain
\nis always the same<\/p>\n

small disasters
\nquick to react yet slow to think
\nas red neckties and empty suits
\nserve to link
\nprotocols and procedures
\nmeant to hoodwink
\nsearching for back doors and secret entrances
\nwe are always slightly out of sync<\/p>\n

wrapped up from within the heart
\ni’m stalling to avoid servitude
\nas steady voices chart
\nfamiliar paths of solitude<\/p>\n

this dream, seems
\nto somehow persist
\nand i keep coming back to the spirit
\nof lazy revolution<\/p>\n

passing between these hazy pages
\nwith electric innovation
\nand an empty pen
\ni wonder what the face of god looks like
\nbut more than that
\ni wonder
\nhow shall i compose a theme?<\/p>\n
