summer machine
\nwith dials like rain
\nstumbling upon a
\nback door apocalypse
\nand flirting with a second chance
\nthat only means something in dreams<\/p>\n

i held the copper cube in my palm
\none final time
\nremembering our prime<\/p>\n

lost and found
\nand lost again
\nwith menthol kisses
\nthis soft little life is set to expire
\nas lady winter is ready to retire
\nand i am ready to inspire
\ndisruption or corruption
\nthen, unseen interruption
\nshut down by a
\nself sacrificing siren\u2019s song<\/p>\n

race to the top
\nonly to be stopped
\nno contrition
\nforgotten
\nin this infinite condition<\/p>\n

there\u2019s no flow
\ndrowning in the afterglow
\nthe rhythm has dissipated
\nas the soul is silently consecrated
\nthen secretly consolidated<\/p>\n

bonfires burned
\nas passions turned
\nfrom hesitation
\nto a drunken invitation<\/p>\n

how many times must we shuffle the deck
\nhow many times must we play this game of
\ntedious complication
\nthe rules of acquisition
\nno longer seem fit
\nas we race towards this sudden respite
\nshould we recommit
\nor just passively submit<\/p>\n

quiet moments
\nin the back of my mind
\nsometimes i visit them
\nthese girls that left me sour
\ndo endings really matter?
\nor are we all just
\ntattered pages
\nin random short stories?
\nhow easily they forget
\nan old face
\nwhen obscured by
\na new embrace<\/p>\n

art is preferable to madness
\nbeautiful and subjective
\nartists in love
\nperpetually plagued
\nby a pale sadness<\/p>\n

the gods granted me a new season
\nwith uncertain direction
\nand i have so little reason
\nto complete this silent insurrection<\/p>\n

saints and sadists always call, and
\nsome days the knife is preferable to the mirror<\/p>\n

but for today
\nthe keyboard, a cigarette,
\nand a cup of coffee will do<\/p>\n
