\nor have a big pick up truck
\ni don\u2019t cut down trees(anymore)
\nor cruise the bars
\nin search of pointless conquests
\ni don\u2019t drink shitty beer
\nor wast my time on small talk<\/p>\n

native blood and no beard
\nlong hair
\nlaced with grey
\ncharacter of foreplay<\/p>\n

a body unmarked
\nand a face unshaven
\nalways with slight signs
\nof misbehaving<\/p>\n

keyboard clicks
\nand walking sticks<\/p>\n

i crave wine
\nand women
\ncats
\nand guns<\/p>\n

rEvolution of the individual<\/p>\n

i am the metal hand of doom
\nclasped around
\nthe soft feather
\nof classical creation<\/p>\n

blessed outlaw<\/p>\n

i am a
\n\u201cpoet\u201d<\/p>\n

ii<\/p>\n

some folks say that
\npoets aren\u2019t tough
\ni disagree
\nwe\u2019re as tough as nails
\nconstantly hammered
\nyet refusing to bend<\/p>\n

we endure the drudgery of daily life
\nwithout complaining(except in our writing)
\nwe take life\u2019s beatings
\nalways begging for more
\nas we challenge the tide of insanity
\nand force it into submission<\/p>\n

we appear solitary
\nsitting in inquisitive
\nand silent observation
\nas we
\nrave and write
\nin a style that\u2019s
\ntoo honest
\nand too brutal
\nfor the masses<\/p>\n

we refuse to comply with societal norms
\nbecause subservience
\nis for charlatans and pussies<\/p>\n

we make due with less
\nworking only enough to get by
\nbecause time is better spent
\nconsuming the fuel for our art<\/p>\n

draped in worn shoes
\nand day old clothes
\nwe always look a little
\nrough around the edges<\/p>\n

we drive beat up cars
\nthat are always failing
\nand eat lots of leftover meals<\/p>\n

we sleep in big lonely beds
\nwith quiet music
\nand uneven pillows<\/p>\n

we drink too much
\nwe smoke too much
\nand we know
\nthat fate holds no quarter
\nfor summer fools in love<\/p>\n

we always bet on the crazy ones
\nand end up losing
\nstill, we keep coming back for more
\n(some would call that insanity)<\/p>\n

we converse with the voices
\ninside our heads
\ndaily
\nthinking
\ndifferently
\nand acting
\nintentionally<\/p>\n

we\u2019re intelligent
\nbut not conceded
\ncultured
\nbut not boring
\nconstantly living
\nalong the edges of tomorrow<\/p>\n

we thrive when we
\nshock you
\nand shatter your illusions
\nand we always know
\nhow to have a good time<\/p>\n

we love
\nlike we fuck
\nbig
\nwith a passion
\nand intensity
\nthat intimidates most<\/p>\n

we know who we are
\nand what we want
\nwe don\u2019t quit
\nwe endure
\nand long after \u201creal men\u201d
\nhave burned out
\nand faded away
\nwe fold ourselves into the pages of history
\nawaiting the next chapter<\/p>\n
