I can’t look anywhere but
\nout my little office window
\ncause it\u2019s
\nwar all the time
\nwhether it be
\nnations, neighbors
\nor lovers<\/p>\n

dictators march us
\ntowards a slow doom
\nand the world burns
\nwith promises of reprisal<\/p>\n

the tv screams
\nbuy this and hate that
\nwith shades of trauma
\npassed over dishonor
\nhaunting as it casts a glowing shadow
\nacross a dirty floor<\/p>\n

no more love
\npeace decays as
\nmillion dollar bombs scatter
\nthe cries of innocent children
\nleft to linger in the winds
\nof ignorance waiting in vain
\nto be heard by a populace
\ntoo dumbed down by alcohol
\nsex, and prescription trivialities<\/p>\n

art remains obscure
\nthis world is dying
\nand with it
\nyour souls<\/p>\n

toxic waste and gene editing
\npublic education and manipulation
\nartificial intelligence
\nfast food and obesity
\nhomelessness and sex slave rings
\naddiction dependency
\nglobal warming
\nglobal cooling
\nanxiety and corrupt morality
\nall subtle signs
\nof a sixth extinction fast approaching<\/p>\n

steeping aside
\noutside it all
\ni could sit and watch
\nwaiting for the end
\nliving in the memory of when
\nwe held each other
\nby the light of a forest moon
\nbonfires, mountains
\nlove in bloom
\nit was just a brief moment in time
\nand now almost seems good enough<\/p>\n

tell me goodbye, one last time<\/p>\n

I used to believe that love and art
\ncould save the world
\nI’m not so sure anymore
\nmaybe the best that love and art
\ncan\u00a0 do is save you
\nfrom yourself
\nproviding a small shelter from
\nthe chaos around us all<\/p>\n

the world changes
\nand so with it, do we
\ncareening towards
\nthis false specter of growth
\nyet so much remains the same
\nas we shuffle on towards
\nwhat we believe is a complete end<\/p>\n
