a toast
\nto the old gods
\nthe gods of
\nwinter\u2019s cruelty
\ni raise the left hand
\nwith a glass of shallow wine
\nin one final remembrance
\nof death\u2019s immaculate kiss<\/p>\n

frozen hands
\nsunrise sour
\nburied under desert sands
\nand strapped upon the broken tower
\nsitting on the pale end of excitement
\nohh how this blood burns with
\nan untapped and untamed passion
\nwaiting for the night to release<\/p>\n

for now is the time to
\nshed the old
\nand begin anew
\nthe color of this soul
\nno longer blue<\/p>\n

walking within a spring sunset
\na soul steps, then to pause
\nhappening upon
\na multitude of
\nimmortal and unwritten laws<\/p>\n

conception
\nin affirmation of the struggle
\nwaiting to discover
\nan indeterminate self
\nlife
\nwith the promise of inner glory
\nand the mystery that awaits<\/p>\n

the dogs of hell\u2019s junkyard are starving<\/p>\n

no longer a shining star
\ntoo low to be seen
\nno longer a body unfit to heed
\nthe mating call of a higher power
\nin reverse the mind can only bleed<\/p>\n

and in the distance
\na band that played the heat
\nwith simple lyrics
\nno longer obsolete<\/p>\n

fixed
\nand mixed
\nwithin a half-way heart
\ni\u2019m limping through
\nthe second rotation
\nholy mutation
\nof the evolution to come<\/p>\n

falling from innocent tones
\nnothing but an orphan
\nwandering, martyred unknown<\/p>\n

headlong head space
\nmomentarily balanced
\nbetween a warrior\u2019s cause
\nand a magician\u2019s embrace<\/p>\n

one last invitation
\na solitary invocation
\nreleasing the inner satan
\nas we fantasize with fate
\nunforeseen and dancing
\nupon the floor of an eternal rhyme<\/p>\n
