fantasy at the front door
\nknocking and rocking
\njust below the gates of
\nhell\u2019s side entrance(you know the one)
\nfor servants and sell-outs<\/p>\n

black coffee
\nwith a black phone
\nblack footsteps
\nthat lead to a black throne<\/p>\n

only the keyboard is white<\/p>\n

sitting here on humble hands
\nthere is<\/p>\n

a cigarette lit
\nin submission
\na letter writ
\nin remission
\nas a clock is fit
\nto ignition<\/p>\n

he\u2019s getting older now
\nas lungs draw oxygen
\nin a laborious fashion
\nand sleep deviates
\nfrom function to necessity<\/p>\n

the thrill of the chase
\nsubsides and
\nreconciles
\nwith a prozac prose<\/p>\n

he accepts honor
\nin this new defeat
\nand mindlessly repeats
\na silent invocation
\nto dispel the mental malefactors
\nthat seek to destroy him<\/p>\n

atmosphere
\nor
\nsouvenir
\nthere is no
\nstarting over
\nfrom the last
\nsave point<\/p>\n

it\u2019s now time to quit
\nto follow a path less insane
\nrolling forward
\nin a sideways tumble
\nwith chemical changes in the brain<\/p>\n

he\u2019d rather write
\nthan speak
\nfor
\nwords spoken are
\ntoo easily
\nlost
\ntaken with no value
\nand given little meaning<\/p>\n

whereas words written
\nhave the power to
\nshake you
\ninterpret you
\ntossing you from
\nthe balcony of complacency
\ninto the pit of remembrance<\/p>\n

words written
\nresemble rationale
\nrenting a small space
\ninside the mind<\/p>\n

he\u2019s written many words
\nand hopes that someday
\nyou will
\nhear them, fear them
\nor maybe just cheer them
