what the hell happened
\nit\u2019s 8:15 and already
\ni\u2019m 3 glasses of wine
\ninto this
\nbored or
\ndisinterested
\nwondering where it all went wrong
\ntoo\u00a0 many evenings spent
\nconversing with myself
\nas the cellphone beeps
\nand the music plays
\nit\u2019s all just a mild distraction<\/p>\n

tv death and
\nat this moment there is no center
\nas i
\npace and race
\nconducted by some mad tyrant
\nfrom one movement to the next
\ndragging myself across
\na strangely textured floor<\/p>\n

my cats sit idly by
\nwatching
\ncasting a sideways and
\ndisinterested glance
\nthese quiet and temperamental beasts know
\nthey sit in mocking judgment
\nbut accept your flaws
\nbecause you feed them
\nand give them attention
\ncats are the best companions
\nthey don\u2019t speak
\nbut their eyes
\nhold all the truth you\u2019ll ever need<\/p>\n

writing in the dark
\nsometimes i think
\nthis is all just garbage
\nperplexed
\nwhat is this standard of living
\nthat we strive for<\/p>\n

i think about all the women
\nall the love
\nall the hate
\npassions heaped on my bed
\nlike a pile of dirty laundry
\nwhat does it mean
\nand when does it end<\/p>\n

the bottom is something
\nyou can\u2019t contemplate at this point<\/p>\n

i\u2019ve sent out energies
\npeeking and seeking
\nsomething greater than
\nthis empty house
\nthis empty bottle
\nrunning in a downward circle
\ntowards infinity
\nit just keeps going
\nthere is no end in sight
\nthe finish line is an imaginary goal<\/p>\n

and then
\nwithout warning
\nit\u2019s over
\nas
\nsleep creeps
\nlike an elusive mistress
\nwaiting once again
\nto fold you into a new days embrace<\/p>\n
