i tried to write
\nsomething interesting
\nuplifting and clever
\nsomething to pull me out of this
\npathetic malaise
\nbut it seems that all i can muster
\nis another dull line
\ndull like the
\nunexpected knife
\nthat cut my heart in two
\none half stolen
\nthe other half blue<\/p>\n

how is that love
\ncan run a man
\nthrough the such
\nbipolar states
\nup one minute
\ndown the next
\ntired yet unable to sleep
\nhungry yet unable to eat
\nsober yet unable to drink<\/p>\n

sitting at the kitchen table
\nquiet in the dark
\nstaring blankly at a cellphone
\nwaiting for a blinking light
\nto signal a message
\nthat will never come<\/p>\n

how is that love can make suckers
\nout of the most hardened hearts
\nand why is it that we
\npersist in pursuing this beast<\/p>\n

cats know of all this pain
\nand they avoid it
\nthey\u2019re smarter than that
\nand they stare at you with
\nneutral eyes
\noccasionally bumping their head
\nagainst you
\nas if to say
\nsnap out of it!
\nyou have me
\nwhat more could you possibly need<\/p>\n

cats have reason
\nthey have a plan
\nperhaps in the next life
\ni\u2019ll be fortunate enough
\nto be reincarnated as one of them<\/p>\n
