open then shut
\naddition and
\nsanitized suspicion
\nno remission
\nstandardized
\nand left with only submission<\/p>\n

count to ten
\nthen die
\nor was it
\nlive
\nin that moment
\nseparated from
\nanxiety
\nand the beast of
\nan abstract composition<\/p>\n

maybe all this is just
\none giant game of waiting<\/p>\n

faces and places
\ntraces
\nof the world
\neveryone else sees
\nwild and wanting
\nfor something more than
\nsolid existence<\/p>\n

only fools have open hearts<\/p>\n

ambiguous words flow
\nlike mistakes
\non an unrepentant stream<\/p>\n

and these bones
\nare restless
\nseeking to atone
\nfor something
\nforgotten or unknown<\/p>\n

i\u2019ve never known when to quit
\ntime and time again
\ni\u2019ve fought the good fight
\nin a bad way<\/p>\n

it\u2019s a virtual stalemate
\nnever losing
\nbut never quite winning either<\/p>\n

one more of this
\nand never enough of that
\nwith nights that cut
\nlike a dull knife
\nchewing around the edges
\npain is pain
\nalways familiar
\nin unrelenting way<\/p>\n

wandering city streets
\nin and out of time
\nstriving toward noble feats
\nand hanging thin on a rhyme<\/p>\n

i\u2019ve learned how to
\nwalk well through the fire<\/p>\n

constantly searching for
\nthe high end of low
\nwhen will stars shone
\na clear path home<\/p>\n

i\u2019m tired of sedition
\nand photographic assimilation
\nor was it just
\nover-stimulation
\nof a minor ego<\/p>\n

it\u2019s this
\ntribal wisdom vs technological division
\nthat steers me towards
\nnatural rhythm and human revision<\/p>\n

reticent and bent
\non strange connections
\nwe pray that these hallucinations
\nwill lead to an elevation
\nof that personal trinity<\/p>\n

forget that abysmal high<\/p>\n

it\u2019s always the pretty ones
\nthat make you cry<\/p>\n
