\nand then
\na sudden estimation
\nof the rapture
\nwe fail to see<\/p>\n

conversing in two voices
\none subtle
\nand the other flagrant
\nthe nonsense of eternity and mortality
\nclash so comfortably
\nto combine into something
\nalmost compassionate<\/p>\n

at best we hope that these black hearts
\nwill soar above the rest
\nunfortunate\u00a0 decimation
\nor sudden jest
\nas we behold the infinite quest<\/p>\n

we\u2019ve been here before
\nweeks upon weeks
\nof empty motions
\nlitter the floor<\/p>\n

there\u2019s just too much of
\nnothing
\nas we are
\nconstantly seeking
\nsomething
\nmore than average<\/p>\n

there is no art
\nto self destruction
\nwith split second decisions
\nand last minute declarations
\nit\u2019s simply in-congruent decor
\nwith a mind that just can\u2019t focus<\/p>\n

calculations in a chorus of cached memories
\nand surrounded by sock puppets
\nof the highest order
\nwhat if all this is garbage
\njust a passing gesture to mark the moment
\na different kind of blues<\/p>\n

absent mortals
\nat home and alone
\nfew are unbroken
\nand connected with
\na singular tone<\/p>\n

there\u2019s this myth
\nof specialty
\nthat arises when we
\nlive another life in secret
\ndreaming we\u2019re somehow different
\nbut the truth is
\nwe bend and scrape
\nlike everyone else
\nas holy rollers
\nand misfit trollers
\ncollect the most important pieces
\nof an indefinite game<\/p>\n
