obstacles
\ni always begin with
\none word
\nto set the tone
\nhome
\nfor a line
\nor two
\nuntil it devolves
\ninto something new<\/p>\n

shaped and shifted
\nin the spirit of my demise<\/p>\n

layers upon layers
\noverlapped and split
\nrestless ideas
\nemerging from shit
\nseeking to congregate
\nand destroy
\nthe original meaning
\nof another useless ploy<\/p>\n

as cats sit in the sill
\nwaiting, watching
\nand wondering why
\nwe are carrying on<\/p>\n

crickets call
\nsnapped
\nand ready to fall<\/p>\n

none of this is good enough
\ni just don\u2019t have it in me anymore
\nstopped dead
\njust short of two hundred<\/p>\n

and, it\u2019s a different kind of blues
\ninside the brain
\na contradiction
\nwith friday\u2019s rain
\nand a futile benediction<\/p>\n

i remember that strange feeling
\nautumn air on a summer\u2019s night
\nvaguely familiar
\npandering to false idols
\nand pondering the meaning of it all<\/p>\n

we are tired
\nbut still kicking
\nstruggling to disengage the autopilot
\nfor the clock is ticking<\/p>\n

manifold
\nmundane
\nsemi-sold
\non a chemical chain
\ntrapped and walking
\nmercury in retrograde<\/p>\n

we are poorly trained
\nand this emulation
\nis a dangerous game
\nafter all this it seems
\nthere are no suitable substitutes
\nfor a salary of serenity<\/p>\n
