it\u2019s a lot of the same thing
\nthese nights that
\nstretch over endless walls
\nlike cracked and peeling wallpaper
\nlocked in patterns
\nand
\nwaiting to be torn off<\/p>\n

all the nines are lines
\nthat came to me in a dream
\nwaiting in vain
\nand perceived as a scream<\/p>\n

it\u2019s a lot of the same thing
\nconsequence and
\nquiet deliberation
\ntaking one step forward
\nand two steps back
\ncaught in a mix of
\nblissful repression
\nand
\nangry regression<\/p>\n

i\u2019ve lit the last cigarette
\ndrank the last beer
\nand fucked the last girl<\/p>\n

it\u2019s a lot of the same thing
\nthese days are
\nset to repeat
\nconstantly seeking
\nto beat me
\ninto retreat
\nand they always come to a close
\nwith uneventful adulation<\/p>\n

the hours grow dim
\nlike yellowed and uneven fingernails
\nperhaps it\u2019s time to flee
\nso i\u2019ve
\nsubmitted my resignation
\nwith style
\nand fallen in tune with
\ncivilized retribution<\/p>\n

it\u2019s a lot of the same
\nexcept when it isn\u2019t
\nthe people
\nthe places
\nbrief moments of ecstasy
\nrolling in and out of time
\noften vanishing
\njust as quickly as they were conceived<\/p>\n

the damned just have no sense of appreciation<\/p>\n
