wake, work
\neat, sleep
\nrinse repeat<\/p>\n

no life today<\/p>\n

how many times
\nhave we waited
\nin rooms with
\noff white walls
\nand
\nhigh lights hung low
\nwith slow moving fans
\nswirling the scent
\nof peppermint
\nintent
\non sanitizing any situation
\ncorporatized the world over
\nthese buildings are all the same
\nbrutal and unforgiving<\/p>\n

and it seems there always has to be two sides
\nbalance and opposition
\ncontrast and competition
\nblack vs white<\/p>\n

but i think
\ngrey
\nis better
\nbecause
\ngrey skies
\nmask the malediction
\nof listless hearts
\nand hollow minds
\ncaught in the webwork\u00a0
\nof macabre daydreams<\/p>\n

with two eyes staring back
\nfrom a dirty mirror
\nthe world almost seems clean
\neven though
\ni am
\ntwo tone
\nsomething more than
\nflesh and bone<\/p>\n

implications of a bait and switch
\nand perhaps you feel as i do
\nthat we are
\ndriven for all the wrong reasons
\nfor man is an animal
\nthat speaks
\nand
\nwords spoken
\nhave little meaning
\nit\u2019s all a game
\ntenuous
\nback and forth as
\nthe pendulum swings
\nfrom one extreme to the next
\nlaced with
\nindifferent hellos
\nand reluctant goodbyes<\/p>\n

in the future, looking back<\/p>\n

i remember
\ncruelty and the beast
\nit was
\nmelodic chaos
\nfilled with
\nshort lived fantasies
\nand untapped joy
\nan old toy
\nthat never seemed to last
\nlate one day and tired the next<\/p>\n

no more
\nrain
\nerratic train
\nof thought
\ndraft after draft of horrible musings
\ncoming together to create
\nsomething tolerable
\nfeel free to dream
\nbut beware of
\nmultiplication and
\nhands that move to impress<\/p>\n

light-headed and empty-hearted
\nthe keystrokes are desperate
\nand frantic<\/p>\n

why?<\/p>\n

well, because\u2026
\nnever mind
\nsuffice to say
\nwe all have style
\nor at least
\na style
\nand
\nmy style
\nis
\ndangerous
\nunfit for most
\ndisassociated
\nassaulting it\u2019s host
\nwords
\nconjured in secret
\nand written
\nhave purpose
\nat least that\u2019s what I keep telling myself<\/p>\n

i have this unique cookbook of
\nhalf assed concoctions<\/p>\n

writing, like life
\nis not a zero sum game
\nyou write some good ones
\nyou write some bad ones
\ndon\u2019t try
\ntake em as they come
\nfits and shits
\nnear misses
\nglorious scores
\nand temporary submission<\/p>\n
